Spares.

Sorry, too busy with other things to sort out any more spares, to list them or price the items up.
If your looking for anything, drop us an e-mail and let us know what your looking for. What I'm putting in the bin might be the very small bit you need.

Sorting out spares.

Spring cleaning? Sorting out spares and general rubbish. I've too much stuff, kept in damp garages so a pile of brake shoes, distributors, and ignition switches and some old body panels/engine covers are all going in the bin.
Some of the larger items I will be selling. I have to raise some cash and also make room for a twenty one year project vehicle that I hope will come home in the next couple of months.
It's been away some time for welding and spraying but its long over due return is nigh.
I have other J type spares still needing to be sorted out as well as some more cab and rear doors that I'm keeping as I have a project JB van that needs them. I was going to restore this van but for various reasons it is now for sale. Only two offers for the van both I felt were rather low, so I will be e-baying it shortly and let a nutter turn it into something else.
I had thoughts of doing the same a nice pick-up truck but doubt I have the time even to rip off 80% of the tin body work and make a wooden flat bed.
So here are a few of the items that I will be selling shortly.

GPO cab opening windscreen. (since yesterday I've had two offers for this!)

Front panel SOLD!

Drivers side door, has been repaired with an Aluminium sheet!

Nearside rear door, damage to lower outer corner.

Nearside rear door, corroded lower inside skin.

GPO rear doors, more holes than metal!! Somebody might have use for the hinges.
Very good N/S/F door, mainly surface rust only.

Three headlamps, one Lucas bulb, two H4 bulb.

The best vehicle to transport penguins?

The excellent BBC "Call the Midwife" featured the mix and match J van HCT 7.
This programme is filmed in Chatham docks, while the old house was in North London but a purpose built film set has been built in Surrey, Longcross to be exact, rather a long way for the Norfolk owner to keep bringing his van to site.
The best van for penguins? Why, The J van, NUN better, that's why.

Late Postal van now in safe hands.

A recently rescued JB postal van has now arrived home to a new dry secure workshop.

A cold snap.

No rain this weekend but a cold Sunday night and when I came to use the J van for work it was both frosty inside and out.
Even the cobwebs inside the cab had frost on them.

Spares saved.

Spare front axle, two drums and two back plates plus brake and clutch pedals saved from the scrap- man.
These parts were given to me some weeks ago and have been bouncing about in the back of the van all this time, now in storage in yet another rented garage.

A waste of time!

Today I got up early and took the van off to Slough, It had to be there by 9.00am. A Dr Who event was being held at an hotel.
There the van parked up outside the hotel, the traders awaited the crowds inside in one of the function rooms with all their Si-Fi goods for sale. Tickets cost £25 to get in and then more money to spend on all that loverly merchandise.
One slight snag, a very poor turn out, yes plenty of people in the hotel but not there for the Dr Who convention. I left just after 11am. You could not even blame the weather, it was dry for once!

A Morris JB grill badge is for sale on e-bay.

Morris Commercial J Type Van from 1949 –1961, 1950s Bonnet Badge Extremely Rare
The name MORRIS is shown on the front of the badge.
It is made of pressed metal angled to fit above the radiator grill on the front of the van. Would have been chromed with red background around the letters.
Saved from a red scrap ex Post Office Morris Commercial J-type 10 cwt van in the early 1970s.
Stored for 40 years.
Needs re chroming - still some traces of red paint on inside edges of badge.
Rear retaining pins in place.
No damage to shape
Ideal for a Morris J type Van, restoration project or just for display.
These are rare, so should fetch around £70.

A list of chassis number and registration dates.
